• Asia's Largest Double-layer Semi-underground Water Purification Plant
    Asia's Largest Double-layer Semi-underground Water Purification Plant
Recently, Water Purification Plant Phase II (EPC) project, the largest double-layer semi-underground water purification plant in Asia, was commissioned by China Central South Institute of Municipal Affairs, has the opening ceremony ,marking that the main project has entered the substantive construction stage. The project is located in Futian District, Shenzhen. The design scale of the expansion project is 300,000 cubic meters/day,the renovation project (to improve sewage discharge standards) will reach 700,000 cubic meters per day upon completion, and the design scale of the water transfer project is 70,000 cubic meters per day. It will be built a world-class and high-quality demonstration project. After completion, the project will effectively reduce the operating pressure of Water Purification Plant and the main drainage canal, ensure that all sewage within the service range is receivable, and improve the water quality of river basins to build Shenzhen into "the most suitable for human habitation, high-tech, ecological, garden style modern central city" . Phase II EPC project team has the advantages of design leadership, design, procurement, construction integration, the "six management system" as the guide, solid progress in project construction ,to create high-quality projects. As for water, the project adopts AOA process, which reduces the power consumption and carbon source addition by about 20% compared with the traditional process, and the effluent standard is TN≤8mg/L. The advantage of the process is to make full use of carbon sources and achieve deep nitrogen and phosphorus removal with low C/N ratio of domestic sewage. Simple process, only one reflux, energy saving, convenient operation management. As for the sludge, the moisture content of the sludge is less than 40%. After the disposal of the sludge, it is directly transported to the power plant for incineration and power generation to realize the secondary utilization of resources.  Through optimization design, with the cost of semi-underground construction, the effect of fully underground construction will be achieved, and the new technology will be used to create a model of special innovation of modern public facilities.  Water Purification Plant will make changes from the aspects of space intensive saving, green and low-carbon resources, and connotation and culture empowerment to create a comprehensive demonstration "energy conversion field", which will become a "model case" of modern public facilities.

  • The Earthquake in Turkey Halted Paper Mills
The Earthquake in Turkey Halted Paper Mills
The massive earthquake in Turkey on February 6, which shocked the whole country and killed tens of thousands of people, will also have an impact on the Turkish paper industry. For example, Kahramanmaraş, the epicenter of the earthquake, is home to two paper mills, Kipas Kagit and KMK Paper. Both factories are now in a state of shutdown. Kipas Kagit produces waste paperboard base paper at its factory in Kahramanmaraş with an annual capacity of approximately 450,000 tons. KMK Paper's factory in Kahramanmaraş produces recycled paper-based corrugated base paper, gray paperboard and core paperboard with a capacity of 150,000 tones/year. Other paper mills in the region may also be affected, although there is no information about them yet. For example, Essel Kagit runs a tissue mill in Osmaniye, and Ankutsan's containerboard mill plans to add a new machine this year, which is located in Adana, along with several other paper mills. Shortly after the earthquake, Osmaniye Tissue Factory in Essex County showed that although the tissue PM was not damaged and the factory itself did not suffer any serious damage, it decided to stop production out of concern for the suffering of the workers and human beings. According to well-informed people, Osmaniye is now up and running again after about a week of standstill. The factory can produce about 31,000 tons of tissue paper per year.

  • Papermaking White Water Closed, Resulting In Waste Accumulation, How To Do?
Papermaking White Water Closed, Resulting In Waste Accumulation, How To Do?
Technology collation With the improvement of the closed circulation degree of the white water of paper machine, the accumulation and concentration of interfering anionic impurities in the wet part will be higher , and the problem of anionic waste will be more obvious, just like lipid in the blood, which needs to be dealt with in time. Anionic wastes include hemi cellulose, lipophilic extract, lignin, neutral polysaccharide, charged polysaccharide, protein, etc. And colloidal particles are composed of extracts, carbohydrates, and lignins. These substances are divided into two categories: dissolved and colloidal. Dissolved and colloidal substances are the most important components in the closed cycle of papermaking wastewater. Dissolved substance (DS) and colloidal substance (CS) in white water are collectively referred to as colloidal substance (DCS). In papermaking system, the content of anionic garbage can be expressed by cationic demand CD of slurry filter. DCS harm and source The main harm caused by the accumulation of anionic waste is as follows: ① The anionic substance in DCS is the main component of anionic garbage, in high concentration, it will weaken the use of cationic additives. ② Colloids are viscous and easy to deposit, which is an important cause of secondary adhesive obstacles. ③ Excessive accumulation of DCS leads to deterioration of chemical environment of water system and abnormal operation. ④ Increaseing the water treatment load and chemical dosage, hinders the process water closed circulation and causes rot pulp. On one hand ,DCS comes from soluble wood extract (small seed lignin, starch, sugar, etc.) ,resin and other natural substances, on the other hand, it comes from waste pulp mixed with adhesive substances. At the same time, the chemical additives added in the papermaking process and the fine fiber fragments in the pulp are also important components of DCS. The geometric size of these substances is generally less than 10μm, so it is quite difficult to control, and the control object is limited to colloidal substances (CS). Effect on paper property After the system closed cycle, the anionic waste will directly affect the operation of paper machine and the quality of paper. However, due to the different raw materials, types of paper and production conditions of paper mills, there is no unified evaluation standard for the effect of closed white water cycle on paper performance. For newsprint, the breaking length, tensile strength, breaking index, elongation and binding force all decreased with the increase of DCS. In terms of optical properties, the whiteness decreases with the increase of pollutants, and the light scattering coefficient, light absorption coefficient and opacity generally increase with the increase of pollutants. The results show that that CS has more influence on the breaking length of newsprint than DS. For cardboard and packaging paper, the physical strength is not adversely affec...

  • Emulsification and Solubilization of Surfactants
    Emulsification and Solubilization of Surfactants
The trend of the steady growth of surfactants in the world provides a good external environment for the development and expansion of the cosmetic industry, and the requirements of product structure, variety, performance and technology are becoming higher and higher. Therefore, it is necessary to systematically develop safe, mild, easy to biodegrade and have special functions of surfactants to provide theoretical basis for the development and application of new products. It is important to develop glycoside surfactants, and a variety of polyols and alcohol-based surfactants can be developed. Systematic research and development of soybean phospholipid surfactants; To develop sucrose fatty acid vinegar series products, strengthen the research of compounding technology, and expand the application range of existing products. The phenomenon of uniformly emulsifying insoluble substances in water to form emulsions is called emulsification. Emulsifiers are mainly used in cosmetics to produce pastes and lotions. Common silty cream and Zhongxing cream are O/W type emulsions that can be emulsified with anionic emulsifier fatty acid soap (soap). It is easy to make emulsion with less oil by emulsifying with soap, and the gelation of soap can make it have greater viscosity. For the cold cream containing a lot of oil phase, the emulsion is W/O type, can choose the natural lanolin emulsification with large water absorption and viscosity. At present, the most widely used nonionic emulsifier is safe and less irritating. The phenomenon of increasing the solubility of slightly soluble or insoluble substances is called solubilization. When a surfactant is added to water, the surface tension of the water begins to drop sharply, forming micelles of surfactant molecules. The concentration of surfactant used to form micelles is called the critical micelle concentration. When the surfactant concentration reaches the critical micellar concentration, the micellar can attract the oil or solid particles to the end of the oleophilic group, so it can increase the solubility of the slightly soluble or insoluble matter.

  • The Global Pulp Supply Shortage Has Eased In 2023?
The Global Pulp Supply Shortage Has Eased In 2023?
In 2023, UPM of Finland and Arauco of Chile will expand their production capacity, which will add nearly 4 million tons to the global pulp market and alleviate the global pulp supply shortage to some degree. At the same time, the domestic paper mills did not wait for the price reduction, but actively seek a variety of supply ways. The domestic social pulp inventory has increased significantly, and the bargaining power of international suppliers has increased. In addition, recently, Nine Dragons Paper (7.02, 0.07, 1.01%), Bohui Paper, Chenming Paper (2.74, 0.05, 1.86%) and other paper companies have issued price hike letters, from February 15, the price of white card paper will increase by 100 yuan/ton. As for the reasons for the price rise of white card paper, Bohui Paper investor relations department said, there are cost reasons, but also market demand reasons. With the industry expecting massive price increases in March. This round of price hike letters from paper companies is more like a tentative price increase before the peak season. In this regard, Bohai Securities research report pointed out that with the gradual landing of the price letter of white card enterprises, under the trend of slight downward price reduction, the profit margin improvement of white card enterprises has a high certainty. Looking back over the past year, pulp futures prices remain high, the cost of some paper enterprises. According to relevant data, Suzano, the world's largest pulp producer and exporter, saw its chemical and wood chip costs rise 41% and 19% respectively in the third quarter from a year earlier. The domestic paper industry has experienced a year of decline from the most brilliant moment in December 2021. According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to November 2022, the operating revenue of paper and paper products enterprises above designated size was 1.7652 billion yuan, up 1.2% year on year. The operating cost was 1216.86 billion yuan, up 4.1% year on year, and the total profit was 47.8 billion yuan, down 38.6% year on year. By November 2022, the number of loss-making paper and paper products unit enterprises was 1,936, up 37.5 percent year on year. The number of losses hit the highest in nearly three years. Even so, analysts do not believe Suzano's price cuts on its eucalyptus pulp are a sign that times are tough for pulp companies.
