How do metalworking fluid defoamers work?
Metalworking fluid defoamers eliminate foam by reducing the surface tension of the liquid. When a liquid is subjected to mechanical agitation, impact, spraying, etc., gases in the liquid are trapped in the liquid to form foam. Metalworking fluid defoamers are able to penetrate the surface of the foam and reduce surface tension, causing the foam to become unstable and eventually burst. This prevents foam build-up during the metalworking process and improves the cooling and lubricating properties of the fluid.

- Mix the defoamer thoroughly with the metalworking fluid before adding it.
- Control the amount of defoamer added, too much defoamer may affect the lubricity and rust prevention of metalworking fluid.
- Avoid collision with hard objects during use, so as not to damage the dispersion and stability of defoamer.
- For some metal working processes under extreme conditions such as high temperature, high pressure, high shear, etc., higher quality defoamer is required.
